Big Boy Bed

Those are Bateman's new favorite words. That's because Richard Carey converted Bateman's bed from crib to toddler bed. I was at Mothers' Night Out when it happened, but RC said it took 5 or so room escape attempts before Bateman settled and fell asleep, but he slept in his bed (we assume) the entire night. We're trying to teach him to ask for us before he gets out of bed, but one morning this week I walked into the kitchen to see Bateman sitting at the breakfast table. That's an "LOL" if I ever saw one. Ah, he cracks me up. Big ol' boy in his big boy bed.

Louis' Baptism

We were so excited to celebrate Louis' baptism at our new home parish, Christ the Redeemer in Houston. We celebrated with family and friends, most of those who traveled a great distance to be with us. Louis' godparents are our dear friends from LSU Linda and Derek Foreman. It was a beautiful and solemn ceremony. Lou Lou let out a few cries during the cleansing, but overall, he was a joyful little man. He's officially a new member of the Christian family, and we've promised to promote him in the faith. Pray for us that we may have the wisdom strength to do so. We love you, Louis Oliver!

Looks like a happy little guy to me. :)

Merry (12th day of) Christmas!

This year we celebrated Christmas with a trip to our hometowns.  It was so great to just be with everyone, and share our two precious boys with family and friends.  Louis was totally spoiled with all the holding and rocking and he basked in all of it.  Bateman was equally spoiled with all the attention he got from his dancing and entertaining.  Richard Carey and I were spoiled by everyone helping to look after the boys.  And if we're still talking about spoiling, Bateman, Louis and I were spoiled by Richard Carey's 2 week vacation spent with us.  This job stuff is for the birds...
It was also my 10 year high school reunion which did not disappoint.  I enjoyed absolutely every minute of it.  From the mingling to the dancing, it was such a great reminder of how blessed we are and have been our whole lives.  Life can be hectic at times, and high school definitely had its moments, but looking back on it, there were a ton of joyful moments, too.  The friends I've been given along the way are irreplaceable gifts.  I pray for those future friendships for Bateman and Louis.
Unfortunately, both boys came down with colds at the tail end of our trip, but it calls for lots of down-time and snuggling this week.  We're looking forward to Louis' baptism on Sunday.  There may be an approaching football game we're excited about, too.  :)
